GRANDAD'S SLIDES (PART 70) - MYSTERIOUS BLUE BOX

 SLIDES 0531-0532

I like these next two pictures just because, basically, they're all about the cars.

It's always about the cars.

Those funny-looking little foreign cars with the engines in the peculiar places, and the doors that open the wrong way around.

These may, of course, have nothing to do with the cars at all. I think that, looking at the surroundings, it's unlikely that this is a border crossing, but it does have the air of a police stop which my Grandfather seems to have taken an interest in perhaps because it added a little local colour, or offered an amusing anecdote that he could share as the slides endlessly clicked on and on throughout another long, long Sunday afternoon...

Mind you, if you squint a little, that chap on the extreme right-hand-side of the second picture does appear to be pointing a pistol... So we may have stumbled, as you say, Hastings mon ami, upon the vital clue n'est ce-pas...?

Still, there is at least one thing you could be sure of... You could be sure of Shell...

I guess that Grandfather most probably just liked the funny foreign cars...
