Thirty years ago today
I wandered blinking and terrified
Into a studio in Didsbury
Ten and a half years later
I staggered blinking and terrified
Out of their office in Sale
Twenty years ago
I sat convinced I'd made a huge mistake
Outside a ghastly factory in Ashton
Ten years after that
I staggered blinking and terrified
Towards another great unknown
These days I sit
Anxiously in another grey studio
Wondering if I've done my bit
Thirty years pass by
In the blink of several
Million mouse clicks
The blink of an eye
Is it time to try something else
Or nothing at all
