FOURTH ODI

FOURTH ODI

Straight off Roy gets out for nothing
Bowled Hazlewood caught by Smith
The score’s already naught for one
Not the greatest start under the sun

Hales gets out for three precious runs
Before being bowled out by Cummins
The score’s now become four for two
From three-nil up this is something new

Bairstow is also out for naught
Caught Paine bowled Hazlewood
The score reaches just four for three
Why does this keep happening to me

Then Root gets out for a duck
Caught Hazlewood bowled Cummins
With the score now six for four
Will this become a record low score

Now Buttler gets another zero
Caught Paine bowled Hazlewood
Eight for five! EIGHT FOR FIVE!
What an amazing time to be alive

Far away the poet awakes
Reaching out for his telephone
Seeking the news from Adelaide
Discovering a batsman parade

Captain Morgan gets thirty-three
Bowled Cummins caught by Paine
The score is sixty-one for six
Radio on for my cricketing fix

Moeen scores another thirty-three
Caught by Head and bowled by Tye
One hundred and twelve for seven
Australia are in seventh heaven

Rashid gets himself to seven
Caught by Paine bowled by Cummins
It’s one hundred and twenty for eight
England looking at an ignominious fate

Then Woakes pummels seventy-eight
Out caught off the bowling of Tye
One hundred and EIGHTY (!) for nine
Not that it’s a game of darts mind

T Curran reaches thirty-five
Caught by Marsh and bowled by Tye
England one hundred and ninety six all out
On Australia day a home win no doubt*

MAWH, 260118

*Australia eventually won by three wickets in 37 overs leaving the five match series at 3-1 to England with one still to play
