Time’s frozen wildly raging ocean
Picked out by icy caressing fingers
Probing underneath chilled bedclothes
On a storm-lashed grey Derbyshire dawn
Undressing a frozen geological sea
Creeping millimeter by millimeter
Indistinguishable year upon year
Trickling decade upon decade
Though lifetime after lifetime
To break on some long-eroded shore
This cold time-frozen crashing ocean
Lust-lapping frostily at mountain peaks
Shapes picked out by mourning hard softness
Wild stormy passions await a new dawn
Unchanging yet always seen differently
Intrusively probing moment by moment
Inexorably swelling inch by inch
Trickling fluids meeting fluids
Throwing lifeline after lifeline
Breaking some long-forgotten law
