Monday night’s dramas
Prevented me from getting
A decent night’s sleep.
Knowing that the phone
Could ring at any time
Kept me up all night.
Just lying awake -
All of that thinking prevents
The rest I deserved.
Possible outcomes
Keep me thinking darkest thoughts
Throughout a long night.
Contemplation of
Troubling scenarios -
Conscious all that time.
The dawn’s light breaking
My mind still remains racing
I’ve been up all night.
