What is really shocking
Is how many years have passed by
Since the reaper came knocking
To take Spike Milligan away
Throwing Death a sharp glance
“Told you I was ill” he had said
That old reaper caught his eye saying
“It’s worse than that - you’re dead!”
It was shocking somehow
When we learned Spike passed away
It’s sixteen bloody years now
Seems like only yesterday
Some minds seem immortal
Most genius seems quite mad
Losing ones who make us chortle
Makes everyone very sad
