Thirty years later
The Herald of Free Enterprise
Capsizing at Zeebrugge
Seems like yesterday
Thirty years ago
Starting a new relationship
Brooding upon disaster
Thoughts too terrible
Thirty years gone by
Since that stroll on Salford Campus
Thanking our lucky stars that day
Simply holding on
Thirty years of life
A crossing back from Germany
Triggered thoughts and spinal quivers
Six months afterwards
Thirty years pass fast
Relationships fail and founder
Went walking in others’ shoes
Grateful to survive
Thirty years sped by
So strange what triggers memories
For the hundred and ninety-three
Life did not go on
