OPEN-MINDED

OPEN-MINDED

I’m not
Easily offended,
She said -
I’m very
Open-minded

That thing
You said
Went over
Their heads
But I understood

I laughed along -
Though it
Seemed wrong -
Alongside
Everybody else

When I
Got home
I thought
Some more
Then became outraged

It’s not just me
You understand?
She said -
I’m ever
So broad-minded

It’s for them
You see?
I became
Offended
On their behalf

They weren’t there
To defend
Themselves –
So I had to
Do it for them

They might
Be fine with it
Of course
But they
Mustn’t be exposed

To such
Outrageous
Offensive notions
Though I happen
To agree myself

I’m not
Easily offended,
You see -
I’m very
Open-minded
