Now locking up

To spend endless weeks

In our homes-made cells

Next to unfamiliar

Invisible

Unseen neighbours

Coughing

The beast is ripping

Ripping

R I P-ing

Through a population

Now lining up

To spend eternity

In anonymous boxes

Next to anonymous

Unknowable

Unknown neighbours

Forever

The beast came knocking

Tearing

Causing tears

Of lamentation

Now welling up

To spend year after year

In endless speculation

Next we’ll place blame

Unfathomably

On our neighbours

Abroad
