I was briefly reminded of the last episode of "Sapphire and Steel" where our heroes are trapped looking out of a service station window into an endless starscape of eternal night, with little hope of escape, but I realised that such a reference was probably a little bit obscure, even for me.
Actually I find it very enticing and thought provoking.
