TWO ROOMS (TWO)

…and so we emerge, blinking like troglodytes, into the sunlight, with the vast bulk of the manual labour now done, and with merely the odd disappointment, and the loss of a couple of mugs, a butter knife, a dish drainer, and a cereal bowl to worry about, along with the mysteriously broken seal on my "new" jar of coffee, and the prospect of a little retouching, filling, and shelf construction to gnaw away at my weekends for the foreseeable future.

I'm also poorer to the tune of most - if not all - of my inheritance from my mother's estate, but feel sure that she would have felt pleased that we did something "vaguely worthwhile" with it.

There remains, of course, much to do, not least the return of all the stuff to it's new rightful places, and the lugging of what feels in my mind to be several thousand boxes from the storage unit, and the general sorting out of the clutter which still infests much of our tiny little abode.

I conservatively estimate that, with the wind in the right direction, good luck, and enough weekends being free from commitment, we might be done with it all by October.

This may persist in keeping me away from the keyboard for a while yet, but, well, you never know, I may just find the desire to "tappity-tap" out a few words from time-to-time as this year evaporates, so, as ever, "stay tuned"…!
